Today, I’ll be digging out some Aussie tunes, because we produce some bloody good stuff in this country. Some of this list may look a little dated, some of it may even look un-Australian, but I’m a fan of it all, so you can stick it!<\/p>\n

Days Like These – The Cat Empire<\/strong>

Bobby Got – His Merry Men<\/a>
\n<\/strong>I have \u00c2\u00a0to plug my brother’s band. I’m not linking to anyone else but them in this whole series. Check them out. Seriously. They’re great! If you’re in Brisbane, go to one of their many gigs!<\/p>\n

The Girl of My Dreams (Is Giving Me Nightmares) – Machine Gun Fellatio
\n<\/strong>Harken back to my uni days.<\/p>\n

Pleasure and Pain – Divinyls
\n<\/strong>The Divinyls always slip under my radar. I do like them, so here they are.<\/p>\n

What’s My Scene – Hoodoo Gurus
\n<\/strong>Despite being co-opted for a footy advertising campaign, I still like this song.<\/p>\n

Pressure Down – John Farnham
\n<\/strong>Gotta have some Farnsey, and this is less overplayed than “You’re the voice” by a mile.<\/p>\n

Are You Gonna Be My Girl? – Jet
\n<\/strong>Drag us up into a high energy zone with something a little harder so that we can hit us some…<\/p>\n

Back in Black – AC\/DC
\n<\/strong>If Angus Young screaming at you doesn’t get the blood pumping, nothing will.<\/p>\n

Dancing Queen – Jimmy Barnes
\n<\/strong>Barnesy covered ABBA for Andrew Denton’s Musical Challenge. It’s a great cover, with Barnes’ trademark gravelly voice ripping up the disco classic.<\/p>\n

Down Under – Men At Work
\n<\/strong>You know what? I don’t have this track. I could swear I did. I’ll have to fix that.<\/del> Fixed. Not sure why I didn’t have it; I always enjoy listening to this song.<\/p>\n

The Boys Light Up – Australian Crawl
\n<\/strong>It’s cutting, it’s sly, and it’s got a great beat!<\/p>\n

Dumb Things – Paul Kelly
\n<\/strong>I’ve done plenty of them myself.<\/p>\n

Flame Trees – Cold Chisel
\n<\/strong>I really didn’t want to include “Khe Sahn”. Seems like that’s the only Cold Chisel song anyone ever plays. “Flame Trees” is much better.<\/p>\n

Run to Paradise – Choirboys
\n<\/strong>Another Aussie classic. I’ve always loved it.<\/p>\n

Better Be Home Soon – Crowded House
\n<\/strong>Let’s finish up with an exhortation to return before it’s all over…<\/p>\n
